Computer Works Course: Session Six - The Hard Disk Drive

This weeks session involved discovering and identifying the different types of hard disk drives and their components. Members also installed a hdd, and completed a quiz.

Computer Works Course - Level Three, Tenth Session

Members of MOWLL took it in turn to install memory, the cpu, a motherboard, hard drive, power supply, and a network card. Members also recieved their level three certificates.

Computer Works Course - Level Three, Seventh Session

Members of MOWLL studied different types of video cards, and identified connections, ports, components, and interfaces. As well as understanding how video cards work, members also installed a video card into a PC, using the correct equipment.

Computer Works Course - Level Three, Fifth Session

Members of MOWLL studied the different types of hard drives, including external and internal drives, Solid State / Flash Drives, internal components of HDD’s, and installing HDD’s using correct tools.  Members also identified HDD’s from other computer-based systems.

Computer Works Course - Level Three, Fourth Session

Members of MOWLL studied the different types of computer memory, external and internal memory, and how to install memory modules in motherboards. Members installed memory modules using correct tool.

Computer Works Course – Level Three, Third Session

Members of MOWLL studied:

  • The different types of Internal connectors
  • How to attach connectors to a hard drive
  • How to attach connectors to a motherboard

Computer Works Course – Level Three, Second Session

Members of MOWLL continued their course by understanding what a computer motherboard is, what one looks like, and how to install one in a PC.  Members also identified motherboards in other digital systems, such as a mobile phone and a camera.

Members of MOWLL have started their Computer Works level three course and are working hard to find information on Computer Systems to identify components, such as hard drives, USB ports, and memory.
